Qualified Accountant

Flourish in a respected small practice, working with your own portfolio of clients from start to finish (and no bookkeeping).

Are you a qualified accountant with a practice background, looking to learn and develop in a collegial environment? A company where you have the autonomy to manage lots of SME clients in what will seem like your own small practice?

About us

Leahy O’Riordan Chartered Accountants was established in 1986 with the objective of providing a comprehensive range of accountancy and tax services, along with financial advice to owner-managed businesses. Our directors and long-standing staff have built a solid reputation with professional bodies and the regulators. We have a number of very large clients as well as a wide range of loyal SME customers of all sizes.

About your job

We are looking for an accountant who really enjoys client engagement, as that is the cornerstone of our success. We believe in developing close relationships with our clients and understanding their particular objectives. They welcome our advice and assistance; not just on accounting matters, but on other aspects of their business. We achieve this through ongoing dialogue and are proud that the majority of our client relationships have lasted for many years. We want you to continue that reputation.

What you’ll receive from this job

While we’re a small enough company to care for each member of staff, we’re big enough to ensure you’ll be focused on challenging work with a variety of great clients. Since many of our clients are naturally entrepreneurial, you’ll work on a lot more interesting assignments. In addition, you’ll deal directly with your client portfolio. There is a support team in place who’ll look after the bookkeeping and chasing debt, allowing you to focus on accountancy services. You’ll also have direction from our three distinguished partners, providing the opportunity for you to develop professionally.

If you’re a career-focused accountant, who takes pride in helping their clients’ businesses, you have the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience and enjoyment in this role. Our partners are incredibly dedicated to training and development and will give you every opportunity to advance. That includes paying your professional fees, the option for further training and exam qualifications.

The fact that the average tenure of our employees is eight years shows we take your wellbeing to heart. Your opinion as a professional and an employee is sought and valued on a regular basis. We set clear targets and have regular staff appraisals, so you’ll know in a measurable way how you are progressing.

We are located in Marino Village, across from Fairview Park, with a range of quality shops, cafes and restaurants on your doorstep. This provides a beautiful surrounding for lunchtime eating, cycling and walking. We have a private bicycle lock-up and plenty of parking available close to the office. Our partners are also huge advocates of work-life balance. We expect our staff to leave promptly at 17.00. There is no pressure to do overtime. You’ll get a half-day holiday for your birthday, avail of death in service benefit, and work in a modern air-conditioned office with an ergonomically-designed workstation. A pleasant, spacious break-out area is provided with freshly roasted coffee, fresh fruit and chilled water.

We would welcome a chat on this role and your career aspirations. Call us, or you can send your CV to us at info@leahyoriordan.ie

Who we are

Leahy O’Riordan Chartered Accountants was established in 1986 with the objective of providing a comprehensive range of accountancy and tax services, along with financial advice to owner-managed businesses.

What you’ll receive from this job

By joining our graduate training programme, you will get the very best hands-on experience of working in a practice. You’ll deal directly with our client base, preparing their accounts, as well as audit work, mixed with your studies. This is a superb opportunity as we have a number of very large clients, as well as a wide range of loyal SME customers. We’ll pay for your Chartered Accountants exams and support you through the course with study leave and guidance. You could be fully qualified in three years.

In addition, our directors and long-standing staff have built a solid reputation with professional bodies and the regulators, so we have a number of knowledgeable individuals who will mentor and train you to the highest standards. Our success has been built on developing close client relationships and understanding their particular objectives. You will too.

“I joined Leahy O’Riordan three years ago as a part-qualified accountant. I’d been in industry, but felt I would learn more in a practice. It was the right decision to join this company. Everybody is really friendly and supportive, there’s such a diversity of knowledge and always someone to give you advice. I’m now a portfolio manager with a great range of clients. The work is interesting and I’ve learned so much more than I would have in industry. I would highly recommend it.”
Mark Mattimoe, ACA.

Your development is of paramount importance to us. As you make your way through your Chartered exams you’ll also hone your practical accountancy skills, progressing towards your own portfolio of clients, even while you are part-qualified. Then when you’re a full Chartered member, you will have the opportunity to become a Portfolio Manager with us.

What we want from you

What you need is a burning desire to build a career in accounting. You’ll have the aptitude to manage studying, whilst carrying out a full-time job with maturity and confidence. We’d like to see you settle into our pleasant office and start building long-lasting relationships with your colleagues and clients as soon as possible. You will be challenged, but you’ll learn more than at any time of your life, working on interesting assignments.
